The opportunity

EY New Zealand have just launched a new and dedicated New Zealand Financial Services Organisation (FSO), to provide our local banking, wealth and asset and insurance clients with deep industry knowledge, skills, and experience to help them manage some of their most complex challenges. By being a part of a newly established practice, there’s no better time than now to join our team, and to be a part of something new!

Due to the dynamically growing demand for specialist consulting, we currently have Manager positions available for individuals who are passionate about financial services and building a better working world. These roles are based in our Wellington office, but subject to flexible remote-working models EY has been embracing.

About Technology Consulting

Technology Consulting, which incorporates the Technology Transformation, Technology Solutions Delivery, Data & Analytics, Digital & Emerging Technology and Cybersecurity competencies, focuses on harnessing the power of technology to help solve complex business challenges, transform businesses, and build trust. It is tightly integrated with our Business Consulting and People Advisory practices, forming high-performing interdisciplinary engagement teams. Further leveraging the insights and delivery excellence brought by our global network of professionals and technology alliance partners, we bring the latest technologies turned into fit-for-purpose business enablers to the most significant New Zealand financial institutions.


Your key responsibilities

  • Work with diverse teams across the business to win, design, plan, and deliver projects to help clients solve some of their most challenging problems;
  • Manage your own and/or team performance to achieve a high standard of client service;
  • Connect with our local and global financial services networks to understand and customise our sector-specific solutions, share knowledge and draw on the skills of other EY subject matter specialists;
  • Effectively communicate and develop relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders across all levels.


Skills and attributes for success

  • Multi-year (minimum 5) experience, proportional to specific target rank, in financial services (Banking, Insurance, or Wealth and Asset Management), either within a consulting firm or major financial institution in a technology-related role;
  • A degree in Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Systems Management, Finance, Business or similar;
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).


Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Intrinsic self-motivation, a positive attitude, and a passion for problem-solving and creating solutions;
  • A consulting growth mind set, comfortable navigating through periods of ambiguity and change, embracing a culture of collaboration and teaming;
  • The ability to ‘translate’ between technical and business language and navigate between both types of audiences.

The preferred applicant will be subject to employment screening by EY or by their external third-party provider.

We have three Manager positions available in Technology Consulting. The salary range for this role is $125,000 NZD to $155,000 NZD dependent on skills and experience. This full-time role is for a minimum of 37.5 hours per week.
