About the role
This is an exciting time to be a Traffic and Transportation Planner in New Zealand and Stantec are leading the charge.
We need someone who can contribute to Stantec business goals by providing technical expertise on a wide range of public and private sector transport planning projects throughout New Zealand. The particular focus areas of the role will include transport planning and advisory projects.
Day to day tasks would involve:-
- tWork with national specialists and the Wellington team to provide transport planning and advisory expertise on regional and national projects.
- tWork with national specialists and the Wellington team to provide general transport planning advice in such areas as land use integration, business case analysis and reporting, traffic assessments, traffic analytics and rail and transport technology.
- tContribute to the operation of local (and where appropriate, national) project teams to achieve delivery of projects to a consistently high standard of accuracy, content and presentation.
- tAssist with business development in the public transport, business case and active mode service lines.
- tDevelop and maintain strong client relationships through excellent project performance and effective communication.
- tMaintain technical and professional standards,
- tDemonstratable experience in technical delivery of transportation planning projects
- tProvide advice, solutions and project outcomes that create value for clients
- tMeet your productivity target by taking responsibility for planning and communication of your own workload with your Team Leader.
- tContribute to the training and mentoring of other team members.
- tAssist in project management as required.

Qualifications:
To be successful in this role you’ll need:
otA tertiary qualification relevant to transport planning and/or operations.
otAt least 3 years transport planning related experience, with a focus on transport planning and/or operations.
- Excellent investigation, analytical and report writing skills, including business cases.
- Excellent inter-personal skills and an ability to build trust and provide support to peers and clients.
- Experience in the private sector desirable.
