He angitūtanga: The opportunity

We have a rare opportunity for a Planner to take their policy expertise to the next level in this engaging and varied role as a member of the Regional Planning Team in the Plans and Places Department. This role will see you support the development of plan changes, respond to national statutory requirements, and be involved in plan review and other statutory tasks, including monitoring of the plan under section 35 of the RMA. The Regional Planning Team is tasked with developing planning responses in relation to regional functions (RMA s30) and the natural environment. You will be working with others in the team and across the Council family on the implementation of the National Policy Statement for Freshwater Management (NPS-FM), although you will also be involved in a range of other natural environment issues, including indigenous biodiversity and tree protection. Over the course of your time in the team, there will also be opportunities to be involved in the wider work of the Plans and Places department. With a strong focus on continuous improvement, you’ll be working within one of the world’s most unique planning authorities and helping us to ensure development within Tāmaki Makaurau provides the best possible outcomes for our environment and our communities.

He kōrero mōu: About you

You’ll bring with you a degree qualification or higher and at least three years of experience in policy planning and resource management. A robust understanding of the Resource Management Act is essential. Prior experience with and/or a strong interest in regional and natural environment planning is highly regarded. With a knack for process improvement, you’ll have an eye for finding areas where we can become more efficient and effective. As this role might require you to travel around the region using Council vehicles, you’ll ideally hold a valid New Zealand driver’s licence.

While this is a full-time position, we would be open to discussing part-time options (we are looking for a commitment of 30 hours per week or more).
