Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role

Te Herenga Waka–Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Senior Marketing Adviser to join the Marketing Group, working within the Faculties of Humanities & Social Sciences and Education. This full-time, permanent position is an exciting opportunity for a strategic marketing professional with digital expertise, and a strong curiosity in arts and education.

You will be responsible for:

• Providing expert technical marketing advice and direction for both strategic and tactical marketing activities linked to student recruitment, and for marketing activities that are prioritised by the Office of the Pro-Vice Chancellor (PVC).
• Act as a partner to faculty communication, and engagement colleagues to provide marketing advice and for the implementation, management, and evaluation of agreed marketing initiatives.
• Lead on divisional marketing strategy and implementation, providing advice and supporting the work of the Engagement Manager and Marketing Group.
• Champion digital marketing initiatives to help engage future students about the benefits of studying education, humanities, and social sciences in Wellington through marketing automation technology.

The Senior Marketing Adviser—Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and Faculty of Education is physically located within the Faculty Engagement Team, sitting within the office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor. The role reports to the Associate Director–Marketing within the Marketing Group, with dotted line reporting to the Faculty Engagement Manager.

This role is part of the University’s Marketing Group, which is responsible for ensuring University initiatives, including teaching and research programmes are promoted in a targeted and innovative way. The Group is responsible for the guardianship of the University’s brand, the production and management of high-quality content for web, publications, and other channels, and driving improvements to the effectiveness of the online presence.

You will be an experienced and skilled digital marketing professional, passionate about putting our audiences at the centre of everything you do.

As a motivated self-starter, you will be able to take the initiative and provide excellent marketing advice to a diverse group of university colleagues, while ensuring the University’s brand and vision are portrayed appropriately. You will be a person of integrity who communicates well, builds positive relationships, and sees opportunities to innovate. You plan and organise your work effectively. You will work closely with other members of the Engagement Group team within both faculties and also with members of the wider Marketing Group. You will have the skills to form effective working relationships with people across the University.
