The Marketing Services team, as part of the wider External Engagement Division, plays a key role in attracting students to the University of Otago, and helps raise the organisation’s profile globally and throughout New Zealand.
We offer a range of marketing support to divisions, schools, and departments within the University and are the go-to experts for marketing strategy, design, advertising, website design, event management, content, and publications.
The External Engagement Division embraces a global outlook and leads and promotes activities to increase engagement, both nationally and internationally, and seeks to build lasting relationships with students, and other key stakeholders.

Te mahi / The role
This Front-End Development role is focused on translating user interface designs into coded visual elements for a variety of websites and web applications. You’ll be working as part of the central marketing team, responsible for helping to set the brand image, and “front door” of the University of Otago.
Your role will play a crucial part in ensuring the University’s website, digital media, Student App, and other digital tools are consistently represented across all digital marketing platforms and in line with Marketing Services standards.

You will be the type of person that enjoys working with a broad range of stakeholders to provide great website development support, advice, and guidance. You will have had previous experience assisting with the development and delivery of web and digital marketing projects with demonstrated expertise in web front-end production in a Mac and PC environment.
- Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent.
- Experience working with content management systems.
- Exposure and knowledge of SEM and SEO.
- Knowledge of UX principles and best practices.
- Good HTML, CSS, and Javascript ability along with exposure to client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks including jQuery.

This is a full-time permanent position, located in Dunedin.
We offer five weeks’ annual leave, a 6.75% superannuation scheme, and the ability to achieve real work/life balance.
