Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role

Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Global Exchange Programme Coordinator to join Internationalisation Programmes team, within the Wellington University International office, on a permanent full-time contract. The role is responsible for promoting the University’s exchange programme and other mobility opportunities to students and stakeholders, providing in-depth student administration and student support services for students undertaking exchanges, as well as contributing to the University’s broader internationalisation activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure student exchange participants at Victoria University of Wellington are well informed about the programme, and that the programme is running smoothly and efficiently.

• Maintain effective relationships with all relevant stakeholders both internal and external and help ensure the University meets all its obligations and objectives as set out in relevant policies and strategies.

• Effectively promote the exchange programme and other student mobility opportunities, internally and externally, and ensure targets are met for outbound and inbound student exchange movement

The role is perfect for someone who is customer-focused, dynamic, conscientious, and motivated to support students in achieving their goals and accessing internationalisation experiences.

You will also have high attention to detail, be organised, and collaborative. Your strengths will include well developed skills in working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, written and verbal communication, teamwork, and the ability to build strong, effective relationships.

You will be a highly organised self-starter and natural relationship builder, who relishes working autonomously as well as contributing positively to a high performing team. You will need effective time management and forward planning to balance meeting deadlines and maintain a high standard of service to both students and staff, as well as a range of external stakeholders.

Key Requirements:

• A completed tertiary qualification or relevant work experience.
• Demonstrated experience in customer service.
• The ability to prioritise appropriately and manage conflicting workloads.
• Sensitivity to and respect for cultural differences, particularly in an educational context, and the challenges faced by students studying in other countries.
• An understanding of, or the ability to acquire an understanding of, relevant issues and trends in international and higher education.
• Ability to take the initiative and work independently, as well as with others.
