The University is on a path to digital transformation and a seamless integration between core enterprise information systems is a key enabler.

We have a rare opportunity to join our team and want someone looking to engineer high quality integrations. This is a great opportunity to use your existing skills as a developer and build upon your experience working within a large and complex enterprise environment.

As a Senior Developer within our software development group, you will have the ability to shape end-to-end integration development services with an initial focus on development of new integrations and migration of legacy integrations to our current iPaaS platform.

The role is focused on providing technical and business solutions as well as monitoring operations, support, advice, and troubleshooting.

You will become the specialist technical expert and use this expertise to develop and execute elegant solutions that meet our customer needs and are aligned with wider IT strategy and enterprise architecture.

You will be an integral part of our continuous modernisation and improvement approach and be in a position to contribute to our platform direction and technical architecture going forward.

Skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako

Ideally you will be an experienced software developer who enjoys every step of the SDLC, and gets a kick out of innovation, learning new languages or frameworks and seeing your work delivering outcomes at an enterprise level.

University environments are very varied so your extensive knowledge of programming for diverse systems and platforms will be a huge benefit as you engage in a multitude of diverse and interesting deliverables.

If you are the type of person that enjoys tackling big problems with the ability to make a real difference, then this is the role for you.

An example of some of the technologies you will encounter and skills you will utilise inculde:

  • Experience in an integration development/solutions role using relevant technologies and iPaaS frameworks such as Boomi, Jitterbit, Talend, Mulesoft, or Azure Integration Services.
  • Experience in REST web services, JSON, XML, and Java.
  • Experience in database design and development including SQL.
  • Experience in source code management and knowledge of CI/CD.
  • Knowledge of messaging systems such as ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, or similar.
  • Knowledge of streaming platforms such as Apache Kafka.
  • Knowledge of DevOps, Agile, and Scrum.
  • The ability to translate user requirements into computer-based programs and systems to achieve client-focused business solutions.
  • String written and interpersonal skills.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work alone but also strong collaboration skills to work as part of many levels of teams.
  • String self-management skills and the ability to manage your time and priorities effectively.
