Support the implementation of Kia Tū Kaha: Manatū Hauora Wellbeing Plan 2022-2025.
This is a great opportunity for an entry-level health and safety professional to start making their mark and develop their HSW skills and experience. This opportunity is particularly exciting because the successful applicant will be involved in the implementation of Haerenga ki te Ora: The Ministry’s newly developed Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) Strategy, and also be part of a unified effort to ensure the way we manage the health, safety and wellbeing continually improves.
The Ministry is also undertaking a large programme of work to protect, empower and care for the psychosocial wellbeing of our people and this role will play a part in supporting this.
Mō tō mātou rōpū – About our team:

The team is inwards facing and supports the work activities of all Ministry workers. The Team prides itself in working collaboratively, and in proactively engaging with the rest of the Ministry to provide solution-orientated support.
To further strengthen the Team, we are looking for a talented individual to take up the role of Advisor Health, Safety and Wellbeing, reporting directly to the Group Manager, Operations.
It is an exciting time for the Team as we support the Ministry to embark on a number of important initiatives and programmes of work in order to further strengthen the pillars of the recently developed Health, Safety and Wellbeing Strategy. You will be the person who receives HSW-related enquiries and notifications from Ministry managers and workers. You will be responsible for responding to these in a timely and positive way and escalating issues to other HSW Team members where they cannot be resolved at the Advisor HSW level.

You will act as custodian for HSW-related documentation and other information, including, for example, incident data, intranet content, information related to assurance activities and meeting minutes.
Maintaining familiarity with Haerenga ki te Ora and the associated workstreams, will be a key part of your role so that you can take a proactive approach to supporting the HSW Team to implement these workstreams.
You will also have opportunities to further develop your HSW skills and experience through leading (or playing a key role in) minor projects and programmes related to the workstreams, under the direction and guidance of the Principal Advisor HSW and the Senior Advisor HSW.
You will be an integral member of the HSW Team, and wider Operations Team, and will work in collaboration with them to ensure the support given to the Ministry is integrated, is sufficiently focussed across the breadth of our strategic pillars, and ultimately helps us achieve the strategic outcomes we want.
