The Department of Population Health teaches undergraduate medical students in their clinical years (years 4-6), offers a variety of postgraduate programmes in public health and supervision for Masters and PhD degrees.
Our department has a strong research base with staff research interests covering a range of areas.
The role/Te mahi
As an Assistant Research Fellow, you will be primarily responsible for day-to-day management of data collected in the NZ Prospective Older Adult Transport and Health Study (NZPATHS).
- Collating wave data and transferring between systems, primarily REDCap, Access and Stata.
- Collating and maintaining up to date data management logs and data dictionary files.
- Deriving summary variables in Stata.
- Assisting with quantitative analysis (under guidance of NZPATHS Biostatistician).
- Contributing to, or leading the drafting of presentations, manuscripts, or research reports for dissemination of project findings to a range of audiences.
- Undertaking other duties relevant to the project, as indicated by the Principal Investigator.
Your skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako
- Management of datasets. Ideally, experience with REDCap project management system, Microsoft Access and Excel, and Stata statistical software.
- Previous involvement in quantitative research.
- Writing academic reports, scientific publications and presentations.
- Willingness to work both independently and under supervision.
- Relevant postgraduate study.
- An understanding of, and commitment to, the Treaty of Waitangi, particularly in relation to the conduct of research in a university environment.

This is a part time (0.5FTE), fixed term role until the end of November 2022.
