The role/Te mahi
The Associate University Librarian (Māori and Strategic Development) position reports directly to the University Librarian and is a newly created role in the Library Executive, providing leadership and vision to enable change within the service.
The role holder will work as part of Māori networks within and outside the University. The responsibilities also include strategic, operational and workforce planning, physical space development, and programme co-ordination. These responsibilities will provide a vehicle for making strategic changes to re-position the services to meet the needs of Māori communities.
The role holder will lead the development and execution of the Library’s strategies for effective and enduring engagement with iwi, mana whenua and te ao Māori to advance the Library services for Māori students and staff. The post holder will provide leadership and management for the Strategic Development team and ensure the staff capabilities and competences are in place.
Skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako
We are looking for a leader with the credibility and capability to foster, create and maintain relationships built on trust.
- Broad and deep experience of Te Ao Māori, including competency in Te Reo Māori and leadership in tikanga.
- Experience working in a management team in a library, cultural or related service-oriented organisation.
- Track record of operating at a strategic / expert level for a sustained period.
