Aviation Security Officers – Christchurch Airport (part-time)

The Aviation Security Service is recruiting for Aviation Security Officers at Christchurch Airport as a result of international flights resuming. We have multiple positions available!

About the role

We are looking for people who enjoy working in a dynamic, physical and varied role. Successful candidates will be strong communicators, who are able to connect confidently with people from all walks of life. You will need to be a problem solver, have good situational awareness and excellent time management skills.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Security screening departing passengers and their baggage
  • Perform mobile, foot and static patrols in and around the airport
  • Hazard inspections of runways and other operational areas including navigational installations
  • Liaise with other airport agencies and stakeholders

NZQA Level 4 training for the role is undertaken and ongoing development opportunities are offered. Successful candidates will be required to undertake a paid training course upon starting their role, Part of this training will require you to attend two 2-week courses located in either Christchurch or Auckland.

What do you need?

To be considered for a career with AvSec, you must meet the following pre-requisites:

  • Must be willing to have regular Covid-19 tests and continue to be fully-vaccinated for your own health; and the health, safety and wellbeing of colleagues, friends, family and the wider community.
  • Must be medically and physically fit and willing to undertake a medical assessment by a licensed practitioner.
  • Must be able to a work shift pattern of 6 days on and 3 days off with early starts and late finishes.
  • Must be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident.
  • Must have a full clean New Zealand driver’s licence.

Due to the requirements of the role those with colour vision deficiencies, recent serious injuries or criminal convictions will not be considered.

Important information

To be considered for the September 2022 intake you must be available to attend assessment centre in person in Christchurch the week of 1st – 5th September 2022. If you are successful beyond our assessment centre, Interviews will take place in Christchurch mid-September and medicals will be in Christchurch mid to late September.
