We are the only cat cafe in the South Island and for the first time since we opened in 2018, we are in need of a new staff member! We are looking for a confident and self-sufficient part time barista with extensive coffee-making and cafe experience, who is also happy to help with a variety of cat related tasks.
On the cafe side you’ll be making coffees and other drinks, serving customers and keeping things clean and tidy. You will also be on the till processing sales, managing our booking system and helping customers if they have any questions.
The cat side involves a wide variety of cleaning, from vacuuming, mopping and tidying to, let’s face it, cleaning up gross stuff. You will also, of course, spend time with the cats and help socialise and introduce new cats to the cat area when we’re less busy.
These two roles are predominantly separate for health and safety reasons, so while you’re performing one you won’t be doing the other.
We know there are a lot of enthusiastic cat lovers out there but we do ask that you only apply if you have worked as a barista before as we unfortunately don’t have the ability to train applicants in this area. Experience caring for animals, especially cats, would be ideal though not required.
Hours for this position are:
- Fridays from 12:00pm – 8:30pm. On occasion this would be 8:30am – 5:00pm if we have no event on.
- Sundays from 8:30am – 5:00pm.
We need someone who is flexible with hours and is willing to pick up occasional extra hours / days to cover illness and during school holiday periods.
No two days are the same with a whole lot of cats, and we always have a variety of other tasks that come up, so we need someone who is proactive at problem solving, and happy to do all the extra bits and bobs that come up along the way.
If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you!
