Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role

Applications are invited from Registered Clinical Psychologists interested in working in a community based child and adolescent mental health team. We are looking for a self-motivated clinician to join our multi-disciplinary team to work across both child and adolescent age groups.

This is a community based position, and includes care management, provision of therapeutic interventions. You will work in innovative ways to support the recovery of tamariki and rangatahi and provide whanau interventions when indicated.

You will be able to provide comprehensive mental health assessments, work collaboratively with young people and their Whanau to develop meaningful and effective treatment plans and deliver effective evidence based treatment for young people.

Supervision and support will be available and positive learning opportunities given. Mental Health Services in Wairarapa have developed a Community based model of service delivery underpinned by a philosophy of recovery and a client centered-approach.

This is a permanent, part time position working 48 hours per fortnight, Monday to Friday. Hours and days of work are negotiable.

Mō tō mātou rōpū – About our team

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) provides a positive learning environment with clinical supervision and opportunities for professional development. We have strong links to CAMHS across the region and access to regional specialty services to support our local service provision.

Moū – About you

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A PhD or Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Psychology or overseas equivalent.
  • Registration with the NZ Psychologists Board and a current practicing certificate.
  • Has experience with assessment and treatment with infants, children, young people and their families using a range of psychological instruments and therapies, including but not limited to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Dialectic Behaviour Therapy.
  • Has experience working with community agencies, working with parents around child and adolescent issues and behaviours, and knowledge of parenting skills.
  • Knowledge of the DSM IV and diagnostic categories appropriate to infants, children, young people and their families.

This role is based at the Wairarapa DHB in Masterton. However, the role is part of the 3DHB MHAIDS service, and all MHAIDS employees are under the employment of Capital & Coast DHB.
