The Cloud Incubation team is responsible for helping to foster growth and adoption of technology that will expand the global presence of VMware Cloud Solutions. This position will be responsible for driving and improving solutions, services, tooling, and processes with field sales & product business units. The Cloud Incubation team works autonomously as part of a dynamic and specialized sales team responsible for engaging with clients to understand their business challenges and IT priorities. Also, to assist the cloud business unit in designing customized VMware Cloud Solutions that meet customer needs.

As a Cloud Solutions Architect, you will establish and maintain many relationships by working daily with Field Sales, Product Management/Marketing/Engineering, and Program Management. Your role will be to influence and enable VMware’s Cloud Business Groups goals by accomplishing to help streamline Emerging Technology product and feature prioritization, “Go to Market,” and Presale’s enablement, process, and implementation.

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis? You may modify your everyday activities to suit your professional strengths, but you can expect a variety of the following assignments:
- Collaborate with the VMware Business Units to provide real-time feedback and trends to help drive accurate roadmaps based on customer needs and objectives.
- Build enablement content, demo environments, and media for the greater field to leverage in technical pre-sales.
- Mentor and enable technical sellers on new VMware Cloud Solutions.
- Develop Vision, Strategy, and Roadmaps deliverables to meet technical solutions.
- Design, manage and execute Early Access and Beta programs.
- Lead technical validation of the VMware Cloud Solutions against business/IT needs.
- Participate in and drive elements of the pre-sales process to understand customer business, technical objectives, and product requirements.
- Lead deep architectural discussions with enterprise customers and VMware cloud partners to build confidence and ensure customer success when building new and migrating existing applications, software, and services on VMware’s Cloud platform.
- Drive Customer Proof of Concepts.
- Participate in regional marketing events to promote VMware’s cloud strategy
- Author blogs, technical articles, or white papers based on experiences
- Speak at events such as VMworld, Sales Kick-Offs, Technical Summits, etc.
- Provide feedback to Product Management based on customer feedback.

The hiring manager for this role is Paul Gifford, Senior Director of Cloud Incubation, and James Forrester, Vice President Worldwide Technical Leader for Cloud Sales. Chris and Paul encourage team members to continuously grow professionally and live by the values and creativity they bring to the team.
The team is globally distributed, with all members working remotely. We work closely with other teams globally. We are a friendly and collaborative group that learns and grows together and has some fun.

Flexible: The role is considered flexible and will be a mix of working from a local VMware office and remote depending on your preferences and the arrangements determined with your future manager.
