We are a small, residential gardening business based in Karori . We are now looking for reliable part-time gardeners to join our team, who can commit to a minimum of 15 hours per week.

We provide gardening services to around 50 clients, primarily located in Wellington’s western suburbs. Jobs include garden restoration and development, as well as regular garden maintenance. We pride ourselves on delivering affordable, high-quality, eco-friendly services that meet or exceed our clients’ expectations.

The services we offer to our clients include weeding, tree pruning, hedge trimming, lawn mowing, mulching and planting, as well as some plant propagation. You will be involved in carrying out all of those tasks.

On average, jobs take 2 to 2.5 hours, although some jobs will require 3 to 4 hours’ labour. You will generally be expected to do 2 jobs per shift, working in teams of 3 or 4, including a supervisor.

You will need to be physically fit to do manual labour. You must be able to work as a team member who can communicate well with others. You will be able to follow instructions and are self-motivated to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner and to expected standards.

Previous gardening experience is preferred but not essential. On-the-job training will be provided. We do expect you to learn from experience, so that you can work more independently over time.

You will be expected to supply your own work boots, gardening gloves and wear appropriate clothing for outdoor labour. We will provide all required gardening tools, as well as transport to and from our home base.

We are committed to paying an hourly rate above the minimum living wage. Paid hours include travel to and from our home base and between jobs. There is an opportunity to move to a higher hourly rate, based on your performance and experience.

You will be working for us as an independent contractor. As such, you will be supplying a weekly invoice for payment. We can assist with this, as well as advising you on your tax obligations.

Before applying, consider any health and safety issues that may impact on your ability to work in a garden environment, such as allergies or phobias. We will expect you to advise us of any issues that may impact on your safety when we are out and about and how we can manage that.

If that all sounds like you, we look forward to hearing from you.
