Mona Vale Public School is a dynamic, inclusive school where staff, parents and students work together to ensure students have access to high quality teaching and learning and are afforded with opportunity to pursue their passions.
Our student population of 863 students includes students in our mainstream, Year 5 and Year 6 Opportunity Class and Support Unit for students with Autism and Moderate Intellectual Disability. Our school’s programs are inclusive and celebrate the diversity of our community. We have 173 students who have a language background other than English, representing 37 language groups. Our High Potential and Gifted Education programs allow students to explore their talents in academic, social, cultural and sporting arenas.
Our school currently has a major capital works program which will provide new and upgraded learning spaces and core facilities including a performance space for shared use within the community. Our teaching and support staff work together in the best interest of student learning outcomes and positive wellbeing. The senior executive work collaboratively in a shared office, ensuring that the leadership of the school is coherent and student focused.
Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary with proven ability to lead collaborative planning, monitoring and review of curriculum implementation;
Ability to lead whole school and differentiated professional learning to meet the needs of a diverse staff, driven by identified priorities in our strategic improvement plan;
Expertise in working collaboratively whilst demonstrating an understanding of leadership and management of a dynamic school environment;
Demonstrated ability to work in partnership with families using effective communication strategies that contribute positively to whole school culture.
General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal education policies
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
From 8 November 2021 all Department of Education employees undertaking relevant work , including any work conducted on a NSW school site, will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The successful candidate for this position will be required to confirm full vaccination status prior to the Department of Education finalising the appointment of the candidate and entry on duty.
