The Opportunity

We are a growing company, and we’re now seeking an Ecology Technician to come and join our dedicated team in Dunedin. We work with a variety of clients and projects, so if you’re looking for a new challenge in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary consultancy where no two days are the same, this opportunity could be for you!

In this role you will mainly be involved with freshwater ecology laboratory work, processing environmental samples. Some field work will be required, including freshwater and marine ecology work, requiring you to visit specified sites and assisting other Ecology team members to take samples for analysis and processing. You will be ensuring all sample data is recorded accurately and presented as required, provide analysis of samples and produce appropriate reports for our clients, ensuring all reports are produced to the required standards, are accurate and complete.

Ideally we are looking for someone who can work full time, but we are open to hearing from anyone who is seeking part time opportunities.


What we need from you

  • Tertiary qualification in Zoology, Ecology or Environmental Science; or relevant practical experience;
  • Experience in freshwater macroinvertebrate and/or algae identification (highly desirable, but training will be provided);
  • Good time management and organisational skills;
  • Good computer and data management skills;
  • Enthusiasm to learn new skills and work collaboratively with a small group of specialists;
  • A positive, solution-oriented approach to work.
