The opportunity
TAFE NSW is looking for creative and motivated individuals with current industry knowledge and experience in Early Childhood and/or Education Support to join our team as an Education Support Officer on a casual basis. We currently have an opportunity available at Randwick campus, with potential additional positions becoming available at other Sydney region locations.
Working within a team of industry professionals, the Education Support Officer is supervised by the Head Teacher and works under the direction of a teacher as appropriate. The role is responsible for a range of activities, which supports learners and enhances the student learning experience and educative processes.
Reporting to the Head Teacher, this position
Follows up with students to encourage ongoing engagement and motivate and encourage the students to complete their tasks and activities
Supplements the teaching activities by providing follow-up instruction as provided by the teacher and opportunities to practice skills
Provides support to students to carry out tasks and understand their learning materials and concepts
Supports Teachers and Head Teachers in meeting compliance functions for TAFE NSW
Note : This role does not teach or prepare lessons or resources and does not deliver training nor undertake assessment.
We would love to hear from you if you can meet the following essential criteria:
Appropriate subject knowledge, skills and vocational qualifications in Early Childhood and/or Education Support at Diploma level or above
Ability to understand the content of the learning materials and the processes used in the discipline
High-level interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to be proactive and show initiative and ability to explain ideas in a clear and concise manner
Commitment and ability to support learning in an adult environment and a demonstrated ability to motivate and encourage students
Ability to establish effective working relationships with people from a diverse range of backgrounds and to provide quality customer service as part of a broader team
Skills in the use of relevant information and communication technologies
