We are seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to join our team at our UniLodge @ University of Sydney Portfolio. We are seeking someone who thrives on working in a dynamic, high-paced environment with strong operations management, strategic management, leadership and communication skills.

You will be responsible for the coordination of all Work Health and Safety issues and systems, including emergency management planning and contractor management of all contractors engaged by UniLodge. The role must show a commitment to maximise safety for all staff, volunteers, contractors, residents and visitors.

About the Role

  • Full Time position
  • Roster: Monday to Friday (9am to 5pm)
  • Manage the overall maintenance of the student apartments, all common areas and building’s exterior.
  • Maintain the highest level of maintenance, safety, and security at all times.
  • Assist guests and residents in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Establish good working relationships & communicate with the individual contractors and to understand the workings of all plants and equipment’s.
  • Establish systems and procedures to facilitate preventative maintenance programs.
  • Be hands-on, in a maintenance capacity, including basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, plant and machinery, tiling and painting etc.
  • Preparing and managing tenders
  • Be responsible for the upkeep of the fire stairwells, storerooms, and rubbish removal.
  • Monitoring spare parts stock level
  • Maintain terraces and gardens to present a clean and attractive appearance at all times
  • Good awareness of building compliance under BCA and ensure all the statute compliances are kept updated
  • Weekly, monthly & bi-annual report to be provided to General Manager
  • Reporting including defects, building issues, energy issues, pending and completed works & Asset Management Plans

About You

  • Ability to complete general repairs such as plumbing, electrical, plant and machinery, tilting, light bulb changes, painting, plastering and carpentry
  • Work independently as well as part of a team
  • Attend major emergency issues after hours i.e., water leakages, power failures, fire etc.
  • Attend scheduled Executive Committee meeting
  • Provide effective verbal and written communication skills with staff, owners, and contractors
  • Current First Aid certification (or willing to obtain)
  • National Police Check & Working with Children’s check (required)
