About us
Te Puna Hanganga, Matihiko (TPHM), Infrastructure & Digital a part of the Ministry of Education, creates and supports safe, healthy, inspiring and ICT enabled learning environments. TPHM manages the Crown’s second largest property portfolio of around 2,500 schools with a book value of $26 billion, and transports over 100,000 students to and from school each day.
The Finance and Investment group has overall responsibility for financial management and capital investment planning for TPHM. We also manage the financial planning, forecasting, analytical and reporting and the financial compliance function for TPHM group.
About the role
The Finance Manager Financial Accounting reports to the National Finance Manager, is responsible for the financial management of the $26 billion school property portfolio including the implementation, improvement and maintenance of financial policies, processes and system and the annual revaluation of the property portfolio.
The Finance Manager Financial Accounting will provide leadership and support to Te Puna Hanganga, Matihiko’s, National Office, Regional management teams and Project Managers in effective and efficient use of the Asset and Financial Information Management systems, including leading system enhancement and implementations.
The manager will lead two teams (with the support of a Team Leader-Project Accounting) responsible for performing the annual revaluations, maintaining the fixed asset register, year/month end processes and reporting and reconciliations and processing of transactions.

About you
This role requires a proven experience in managing a team of professional finance staff to deliver quality service, an ability to articulate the ideas, influence and maintain a strong relationship with a range of stakeholders and a strong technical knowledge in financial accounting and property.
You will also offer:
- A strong leadership and experience of leading a high performing team/s.
- Strong technical financial management and analytical capabilities
- Experience in strategic finance including management experience ideally in both public and the private sectors
- Strong business and commercial acumen
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including abilities to present technical information to users.
