‘Project AF8 – Developing a coordinated response to an Alpine Fault rupture to assist and enhance community resilience across the South Island’

Project AF8 requires a highly skilled professional to assist with the development and delivery of the AF8 Intelligence & Insights workstream, working with the 6 South Island Emergency Management Groups, science partners, critical infrastructure groups and communities to build readiness and response planning for the next severe earthquake on the Alpine Fault, as we can’t predict earthquakes. This role will provide tangible suggestions, solutions and data to drive AF8 response planning, influencing and engaging with a wide range of people and organisations across the South Island

Sound like you? We are looking for someone with Highly developed written and oral communication skills and an ability to communicate with a wide variety of groups and individuals, including the communication of technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. It is likely that a magnitude 8 earthquake caused by a rupture of the Alpine Fault will happen in the lifetime of today’s population. The impact on the South Island and the national economy will be significant and it will take strategic thinking and a coordinated effort to plan for this event.
