Haukai Bistro & Bar is located at Novotel New Plymouth Taranaki and we are looking for an enthusiastic kitchen steward to assist with cleaning and dishes in our busy kitchen.
This can be a part-time (20-29 hours per week) or full-time (30 hours per week) role.
We are looking for someone with reliable transport, who has the flexibility to work on a 7-day roster (weekends, public holidays, and evenings are essential), and who has the ability to work unsupervised.
Your day to day
You’ll have ambition, talent and obviously, some key skills. Because, for this vital role, we’re looking for someone who is an energetic and dedicated team player looking for an opportunity to be a pivotal part of a busy kitchen.
As a member of our kitchen team, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen, in addition to maintaining a constant supply of equipment and clean utensils for our restaurant, kitchen and conference facilities. You’ll also undertake general kitchen duties such as collecting all rubbish, maintaining the cleanliness of bins and the rubbish area and undertaking other additional cleaning tasks and schedules. This role will require you to carry, lift and push items such as plates, trolleys, garbage bins as well as handling food products, utensils, chemicals and cleaning detergents.
You’ll be a confident person who is motivated and deadline driven in order to support the food and beverage and kitchen operation, whilst maintaining a high standard of hygienic standards and practices.
What we need from you
- A good attitude
- This is a physical role – so you must be able to lift heavy trays and rubbish;
- Experience in a similar role is ideal but not required;
- Ability to work autonomously;
- A bubbly personality; and
- You need to be flexible with shifts. We operate 24/7 and need employees that can work a range of shifts on a rotational roster (mostly 8 am to 5 pm and 5 pm to midnight)
