About the Role
The UTS Faculty of Science’s organisational structure consists of two schools, two research institutes, administrative services and technical services. Technical Services provides technical expertise and support for the teaching and research endeavours of the Faculty. It is comprised of scientific discipline-based team that are responsible for running undergraduate practical classes, as well as providing technical support and subject matter expertise to research academics and students.
The Technical Services team are currently recruiting for a Laboratory Assistant to join the team on a full-time, continuing basis. The Laboratory Assistant provides a range of services to support the day-to-day operations of teaching and research laboratories such as ordering standard consumables and gases; preparation of media and solutions; and assisting class set-up and pack-down.
With examples, please outline in a separate document how you meet the following five (5) key selection criteria points below:
1. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including ability to respond to changing circumstances and critical situations
2. Ability to identify and escalate problems
3. Working knowledge of standard laboratory glassware, consumables, gases and liquids and their use
4. Completion of a Certificate III or above in Science and/or equivalent understanding of scientific principles and relevant work experience
5. Walkie Stacker Operator Certification (or willingness to obtain)
Remuneration
Base Salary Range: $58,573 to $66,775 pa (HEW 3)
This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.
