Are you an experienced, proactive Legal Secretary or Administrator who enjoys variety? Then this role is for you.
About the role.
Our Legal Services team is a small positive team with a wide range of legal work derived from the variety of Council functions. Based in our Upper Hutt Civic Centre the Legal Team Administrator has a key role to play in supporting our legal team. Central to the role is matter management and reporting and liaising with the legal team’s internal clients. You’ll be asked to pick up and run with some of our team’s regular reporting to Council and you’ll help the team hit deadlines.
About you.
You’ll be an adaptable problem solver who is happy to get your hands dirty on everything from answering the phone to drafting reports to issuing warrants. You will probably be familiar with how lawyers work and have experience in a legal practice or team. You’ll be used to getting the job done without the need for close supervision.
What are we looking for?
We’re looking for people with:
A can-do attitude and strong initiative.
Experience in a legal or professional services environment (not essential, but preferred).
A high level of organisational skills with the ability to delegate and follow up.
Knowledge of local government (not essential). You might have property law or admin experience.
Accuracy and attention to detail.
Great interpersonal skills.
A service ethic. Everything you do will be service-orientated.
A high level of confidence using IT systems. In particular Outlook, SharePoint, Excel and Word, but also matter management software and other legal systems.
The ability to work independently.
This is a part-time role (32 hours or less). Flexible working arrangements are available for the right candidate.
