Night Porter

First impressions are everything! As a Night Porter, you will take care of the guests from the moment they arrive through to their departure by ensuring they have a memorable experience with us. Ibis Wellington is currently recruiting for a Night Porter to join their Front Office team.

Reporting to the Front Office Manager / Assistant Manager, you will be assisting guests upon arrival, ensuring the smooth check in and check out, and assisting them with any queries throughout their stay.

Assist in the day-to-day operations of the Portering and Housekeeping departments during night time including lobby services and security functions, ensuring that standards are maintained in these areas, efficiency evident and customer’s needs met.

What you will be doing:

  • Public Area Cleaning including conference facilities
  • Assist with guest luggage including Tour Group members luggage
  • Assist operations of Housekeeping department during night time including lobby services.
  • Prepare and Deliver Room Service Orders as requested
  • Ensure that standards are maintained in these areas, efficiency evident and customer’s needs met.
  • Ensure messages and faxes are delivered with the utmost urgency.
  • Message boards updated daily and aware of function requirements.
  • Ensure the security of keys and public / back of house areas at all times by adherence to security procedures. Report any suspicious persons or items to Supervisor
  • Liaise with Front Office and Maintenance regarding any maintenance issue ensuring guest requirements are met.
  • All guest property in storage, long or short term, duly documented and cared for.
  • When guest report lost property take all relevant information and pass on to housekeeping.
  • Any other reasonable request as required by your Supervisor or Hotel Management

Your experience and skills include:

  • Service focused personality is essential; experience is an asset
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus
  • Motivated
  • Reliable
  • Flexible
  • Good Communication skills
  • Ability to work on a rotating roster
  • Can work under pressure in a busy environment
  • A thorough working knowledge of the front office operations
  • Strong cash handling skills
  • An excellent telephone manner
  • A great personality
  • Enjoy being innovative and creative with a passion for delivering customer service
  • Ability to demonstrate great organisational skills
  • Eligibility to work in New Zealand
  • Ability to exceed customer expectations
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Knowledge of Opera is preferred

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 32-40 per week

Salary: $23.50 per hour
