He angitūtanga: The opportunity
An opportunity has arisen to work as a Library & Council Service Assistant based at the Albany Village Library, requiring the flexibility to work across Auckland’s Upper Harbour Local Board libraries when required. This is a permanent 20-hour part-time position, over 4 days that includes Saturdays.
The Library & Council Service Assistant is a customer focused role, where you will be contributing to the day to day running of our front-line library. You will have the opportunity to work closely with colleagues and customers to enable a great experience; we want to be known for our outstanding customer service. You will be working closely with our local community through a range of programmes and services, from children’s activities to adult programmes.

We are seeking a creative and friendly team member who;
- Can demonstrate an understanding of Te Ao Maori values and principles
- Enjoys working with people from diverse ethnic backgrounds
- Is confident supporting others to use digital devices and technology queries

You will be working closely with our local community through a range of programmes, from children’s activities to adult events and assisting adults. You will work with the Senior Libraries & Council Services Assistant Ethnic communities to run events and programmes focusing on the Chinese community, therefore Mandarin language skills would be highly advantageous.
