All about the job
This newly created part time (20 hours per week) role is primarily based in our Porirua City Library. The hours of work will be 9:00am to 1:00pm Monday to Friday.
You will help library patrons to:
- learn basic computer skills, such as internet searching, completing online forms, searching for jobs online and CV writing
- use new technology such as smart phones or tablets
- set up and use new digital programmes such as email, desktop applications for beginners, social networking (e.g., Facebook), and using NZ government online services.
You will also:
- develop programs, events, and workshops to help people with online library products and general digital literacy
- provide training to other library staff to upskill them in the digital products and services that our libraries provide
- provide friendly front desk customer service.
All about you
It would be fabulous if you have a library qualification, and have some experience in working with digital and technical services for public libraries. This is the role that will give you a diverse range of daily activities to keep you on your toes!
You’ll need to show us that you:
- can work with a wide range of people
- have excellent technology and software skills and an appetite to learn about new systems
- are highly organised and can work proactively in a busy environment
- can create clear written and verbal communications so that others can understand and follow
- have great problem-solving skills.
