Hawke’s Bay DHB Perioperative department is seeking applications for a Clinical Nurse Educator to cover our Pre- & Post-op department – encompassing the Post-Anaesthetic Care Unit, Day Surgery Unit, Surgical Pre-Admissions Clinic and the Acute Pain Service. The role reports to the Charge Nurse Manager of Pre- & Post-op and is accountable for the development, implementation and evaluation of clinical education and training. The successful candidate will also oversee and co-ordinate the Perioperative Quality Review Team.
Our Perioperative Unit covers elective and acute surgery and has a 24 hour a day, 7 days a week acute service. The Perioperative Unit comprises of 7 operating theatres, 15 bed PACU, 20 bed Day Surgery unit, Acute Pain Service and Surgical Preadmission Clinics. We have all secondary public hospital specialties in-house and perform, on average, 10,000 procedures per annum.
We are looking for motivated individuals with progressive thinking who have the ability to work under pressure in a fast pace and ever-changing environment.
This role will provide leadership in the clinical environment to bring about practice improvements and to ensure safe and competent practice, whilst supporting the organisation’s strategic direction and programme of change. This role provide the ability to effectively contribute to the ongoing development of nursing practice and the professional nursing workforce within the diverse Hospital Group.
To apply for the role, you must have the following:
- Current registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand as Registered Nurse.
- Relevant postgraduate qualification with evidence of ongoing towards master’s degree.
- At least five years of recent relevant clinical experience.
- Hold a current annual practising certificate as a Registered Nurse.
- Hold a currently assessed nursing portfolio as assessed via an approved Professional Development Recognition Programme (PDRP)
