At Haukai Bistro & Bar we are on the hunt for an experienced part-time bartender with good knowledge of cocktails to join our friendly and hardworking team.

You will be part of a team creating a bespoke environment for guests and customers, ensuring the quality of the food and drink they serve is always of high standard.

We are looking for a vibrant, enthusiastic person to take ownership in the bar and help develop cocktail the BEST cocktail options in New Plymouth.

You will:

– Have at least one year of experience in cocktail and bar service with sound knowledge of spirits, cocktails, great wine and beer

– You will know how to make all basic cocktails and have the enthusiasm and initiative to add new ones

– Be passionate about food, beverage, and hospitality

– An eye for detail and presentation

– Ability to work at a fast pace and under pressure, but still ensure consistency and quality is maintained

– A personable nature, fun, bubbly, honest, reliable, and have a good sense of humor – Have amazing customer service skills

– Knowledge of LCQ / Sale & Supply of Alcohol Act – certificate required

– Ideally with a Duty Manager Certificate

– Be available to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays

– Knowledge of Micros POS system will be beneficial

– Be smart and tidy in appearance

– Barista skills will be advantageous

Duties

– Greeting guests and customers

– Mixing and serving drinks, including cocktails

– Assist guests/customers with their orders by explaining specials, meals, drinks and making recommendations

– Take food orders for food ordered at the bar or in the bar seating area

– Delivering food from the kitchen to the guest

– Handling payments

– Communication and interaction with guests/customers

– Maintaining a clean/clear workspace throughout the course of service

This role will be a minimum of 15 hours per week, evenings, weekends, and public holiday shifts at a wage rate of $20-$21.50 per hour based on experience.

You are required to be a NZ citizen/resident or have full working rights in New Zealand. The role is required to be performed by a person fully vaccinated against Covid-19 (be able to present current vaccine pass)

Part-time hours: 15 per week
