An exciting opportunity has opened up at High Performance Sport NZ to lead psychology delivery for New Zealand’s world class high performance snow sports program and other high performance athletes.

The role involves leading the planning and delivery of psychology with a wellbeing and performance focus, ensuring athletes and coaches have access to quality support as required. You will also be working as part of a multidisciplinary performance support and health team as well as collaborating and sharing knowledge with the national athlete performance support team. It is also expected that you will work closely with key leaders to scope the role further based on the understanding of the environment and sport that you’ll build during the initial season.

The role will be delivered primarily in Wanaka at the Snow Sports NZ High Performance Centre, as well as supporting athletes and coaches at identified camps and competitions overseas during the northern hemisphere winter (November – March). This is currently a part-time 0.7 FTE role but there is potential for this role to be offered as full time in future.

Applicants should be a NZ Psychology Board registered psychologist (or on the pathway to registration) or an HPSNZ endorsed provider with at least 5+ years’ experience delivering psychological services in a high-performance context. We are looking for someone with previous experience in developing and implementing a psychology programme. Desired experience includes work in high-risk/action sports, service delivery at major sporting events, work with adolescents, and team leadership.
