We shape an education system that delivers equitable and excellent outcomes | He mea tārai e mātou te mātauranga kia rangatira ai, kia mana taurite ai ōna huanga

Help shape the future of Education

Our organisation is made up of more than 3,000 talented and committed people around New Zealand, from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures.

We are looking for a smart, capable and committed person interested in a policy career, and keen to contribute to the development of policy that will make a positive shift in our education system. This is an entry-level position that would suit a recent graduate, or someone looking to shift careers into a policy role.

This role is in one of the Ministry’s tertiary education policy teams, part of Te Puna Kaupapahere | Policy. We lead interesting and challenging work programmes aimed at strengthening tertiary education at a systems level to ensure that it is inclusive, responsive, delivers equitable outcomes, and honours Te Tiriti.

The Ministry’s role in tertiary education policy offers exciting opportunities for those looking to begin their policy career. Our work sits across social and economic policy, and we work closely with other government agencies including TEC, NZQA, MBIE, and others.

We’re proud of the culture in our policy teams. We appreciate and support each other, and develop strong relationships that underpin our ability to deliver good work.

What are we looking for?

If you are driven to influence policy in an education setting, enjoy working with others to find solutions to big-picture problems, and are keen to work with a great group of people, we’d love to hear from you. You should understand the implications of the Treaty of Waitangi for our work. Some ability in te reo Māori would be an advantage.

Are you ready to make a difference?

We welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds, who will enrich our understanding of the education system.

There is more information in the position description attached. Please take a look, and if this opportunity sounds like you, please apply now using the ‘apply online’ button.
