About Your New Role | He korero whakamarama mo tenei turanga:

This is a unique and newly created opportunity in your choice of Auckland, Hamilton or Christchurch to both develop and strengthen your clinical expertise by providing mentorship and clinical education in the area of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), but also provide clinical assessment and behaviour support services to people in the community. We are open to people wanting to work part time. At Better Days, no two days are the same, though your typical day may involve:

  • 1:1 and group mentoring calls and video calls with other Behaviour Support Practitioners.
  • Providing clinical supervision to a team of Behaviour Support Practitioners including shadowing, mentoring and ongoing report reviews.
  • Supporting other Behaviour Support Practitioners to undertake functional behaviour assessments.
  • Supporting other Behaviour Support Practitioners to develop behaviour support plans and reviewing these plans.
  • Providing guidance around the legislation and safeguarding guidelines for restrictive practices, and the role of the Quality and Safeguards Commission in Australia.
  • Preparing and developing presentations and clinical PD sessions for the team.
  • Upskilling and developing skills across a range of areas including restrictive practices, mental health and trauma informed behaviour support.
  • Visiting a variety of people in their homes to assess their needs, design appropriate behaviour support plans, and advocate on their behalf. You may work with clients with a range of conditions including neurological conditions, ASD and many more.
  • Service development – meeting and building relationships with stakeholders in the community to drive the business.
  • Collaborating with your multidisciplinary team to share knowledge and ideas.
  • Celebrating “Wins” with your clients, their whānau, your colleagues, and your supportive Leadership Team.
  • Attending formal and informal opportunities for networking and learning and development both in New Zealand and Australia.

What we are Looking For:

  • You have 3+ experience working as a community based psychologist or Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner
  • You have experience in the area of Positive Behaviour Support
  • You have experience creating Behaviour Support Plans and PBS report writing.
  • Understanding or willingness to learn the NDIS Positive behaviour Support Capability Framework.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Allied Health, Psychology or similar undergraduate field.
  • Experience in mentoring and supervising others is essential.
  • You have your own car and a valid driver’s license.
