About the Role / About You

The Southern DHB now has an exciting part-time opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our Gore based Community Mental Health team as a case manager working with patients with serious mental illness in a community setting.

The successful candidate will take part in an on-call after hours’ roster supporting the Southern Rivers Community Mental Health Team crisis service. You will receive specialist Duly Authorised Officer (Mental Health Act 1992 and amendments) training. Remuneration for these duties is in addition to the usual salary scale for a community nurse.

You will have previously demonstrated a commitment to best practice standards and your model of practice will be inclusive of the seven Real Skills of Let’s get real (www.tepou.co.nz). You will also hold a strong sense of ‘self’, a positive ‘can do’ attitude and a commitment to working cohesively in a large and dynamic multidisciplinary team.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Gore Community Mental Health Team whilst gaining experience and upskilling in a community setting. To be successful in this role you will have excellent communication skills and the ability to meet the demands of a busy workload to a high standard.

To be eligible to apply you must be registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC and a scope that allows you to practice in mental health, you will also require a clean driver’s license.
