Have you ever wanted a job where you can make a difference not only for the people you work with, but also for the wider New Zealand community?
About New Zealand Blood Service
New Zealand Blood Service (NZBS) has sole responsibility for collecting, processing and distributing blood in New Zealand. Through the generosity of our donors, we are able to help save lives through our blood, blood products and other services. At the end of the day, you know that you’ve contributed in some way to making a difference in someone’s life.
Our shared values are at the heart of our organisation’s culture and guide our behaviour each and every day. They inspire us, motivate us and drive us to provide the very best service to the New Zealand public.
Our Values live in the everyday interactions of our people.
About the role
Our Wellington collection centre has an exciting opportunity to work in a unique part of the health sector, where although you are not working as part of a DHB, you are still caring for people and making a huge difference to patient outcomes.
There is a lot more to being a nurse at NZBS other than just taking blood. Dealing with primarily well people gives a different perspective to a working day. The variety that comes with the various types of collection activity and locations that we work in as well as the therapeutic services that we provide to patients, means that no two days are the same at NZBS.
You can say goodbye to night shifts as you’ll be working Monday to Friday with the occasional Saturday. Part time hours can also be accommodated.
Whether you are interested in developing your clinical skills and experience in therapeutic procedures such as collection of stem cells and plasma exchange procedures; your leadership skills coordinating our collects; or your coaching and training and development skills, inspiring our staff to be the best they can be, NZBS has fantastic opportunities for everyone.
About you and the role
As our donors regularly go out of their way to give up their time to donate blood, great customer service is key to ensuring they have an amazing donation experience that encourages their continued support. So to be successful in this role you’ll be a great communicator with good written and verbal skills, vital for reassuring the donor every step of the way.
We welcome enquiries from Registered Nurses who will utilise their health assessment, critical thinking and reflective practice skills to contribute to all aspects of the collection of blood products and donor health education at our mobile and donor room collects. No phlebotomy experience needed! Let us train you!
A comprehensive induction programme, training and PDRP is available.
Sounds like you?
If this role sounds like you and you are self-motivated, get the best out of people and communicate on all levels, we want to hear from you.
Come and make a difference with NZBS.
