Our Te Aranga Mai service is a partnership with the Department of Corrections and involves working with clients to plan their reintegration into the community following release from prison.
Te Aranga Mai works with short term offenders who are currently in prison, to help them to reintegrate successfully into the community as valued citizens by identifying their needs (e.g. employment, education, housing, health, life skills, social relationships) and supporting them to access the services required to meet those needs.
We are looking for a Reintegration Facilitator to cover the Taranaki area. This role will be predominantly based in the community and will involve working with clients and supporting their reintegration back into the community by facilitating access to both formal and informal services and resources.
You will bring the following – Nga tohungatanga mo tenei turanga:
- An empathetic nature with a natural ability to connect with and build positive relationships with a range of people from diverse backgrounds
- Experience in a relevant field (e.g. Mental Health, Addictions, Corrections)
- Awareness of and respect for professional boundaries
- Good level of literacy (due to documentation requirements)
- Level 4 or higher qualification in a relevant field or a willingness to work towards this
- A full driver’s licence and access to your own vehicle for work purposes
- An understanding of the challenges that ex-offenders face is desirable
- An understanding of te reo Māori me ona Tikanga and able to reflect this is in work with Maori clients/whānau would be beneficial
