About Us/Mō mātou
The Department of Microbiology & Immunology is a multidisciplinary department undertaking high calibre teaching and research across a broad range of contemporary microbiology and immunology, including basic and applied research in virology, cellular immunology, molecular microbiology, parasitology, medical microbiology, vaccines and environmental microbiology.
The Role/Te mahi
The role of the successful candidate is to provide technical research for a project using genetic and biochemical approaches to identify human proteins that are targeted by virulence factors of the bacterial pathogen Listeria monocytogenes.
Skills and Experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako
Applicants should have MSc degree in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Genetics or related fields. The successful candidate should have successful research experience in molecular cloning. Expertise in mammalian cell culture, yeast two-hybrid screens, affinity purification, and mass spectrometry is also desirable.
Further Details/Pūroko
This position is part-time (0.75 FTE), fixed-term for nine months in the Ireton lab in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. The expected start date is 1 June, but is flexible.
