The Academic Committees and Services Office is part of the Academic Division. It provides support, advice and services to central University committees. It also supports academic staff regarding their interaction with those committees and ensures the University meets its obligations for a range of activities.

The role/Te mahi

Reporting to the Manager, Academic Committees & Services, the Senior Administrator Academic Committees and Services provides proactive and efficient coordination, administration, and support for a portfolio of committees, boards and working parties, as well as advice and support for academic staff and students interacting with or submitting applications to those committees.

Academic Committees and Services is a team of highly skilled professional staff responsible for delivering an outstanding service to academic staff/researchers through high quality, effective service delivery to all of the University’s internal and external stakeholders.

Success in this role requires professionalism, commitment to outstanding service, and working as part of a high performing team.

You will:

  • Have a positive, collegial attitude
  • excellent time management skills.
  • Be self-motivated and enthusiastic
  • Have prior experience working in a busy and/or complex administration role where high levels of customer service delivery are expected.

Experience in the administration and servicing of formal meetings is expected. You will also be expected to be able to understand and appreciate the nature of animal and human research, and maintain high levels of discretion and confidentiality.

Familiarity with the University of Otago’s programmes, academic structures, and culture would be an advantage, although not essential.

This is a part-time (18.75 hours per week), permanent position.

We offer competitive salary, 5 weeks’ annual leave, a 6.75% superannuation scheme, and the ability to achieve real work/life balance.
