Taitara Mahi – Senior Housing Business Support Officer
Permanent part time 35 hours
An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Housing Business Support Officer with the Hastings District Council.
The Senior Housing team is responsible for the management of the Councils Housing for the Elderly portfolio comprising 220 units across Flaxmere, Hastings and Havelock North, including, and most importantly, the support we provide our tenants.
Working within this team supporting the Senior Housing Business Officer you can expect to be involved with administrative duties including general and renewal maintenance and tenancy agreement preparation so a strong knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act is a must. You will also coordinate efforts to connect the elderly with wrap around support services provided by external agencies such as Age Concern & District Health Board. This position can, at times, be confronting and requires a sense of empathy and respect and a commitment to maintaining privacy, however is immensely rewarding and has a tangible positive effect on the community.
The successful candidate will have:
- Have excellent skills in the use of Microsoft Office applications. These include Microsoft Excel 2013, Microsoft Word 2013, Microsoft Publisher 2013, Microsoft Project and Microsoft Power-point 2013
- 2 to 3 years work experience and /or relevant knowledge and experience in property management is preferred.
- A working knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act
- Relevant qualification and/or demonstrated experience in the fields of social work/community development/community engagement and working within vulnerable communities
- Have good time management skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Be an excellent communicator and team player
- Knowledge of the Treaty of Waitangi, Tikanga Maori and its implications for community development.
- Be able to work under pressure
- Have good interpersonal skills and a sense of humour
