Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role

The Senior HR Advisor provides employment relations and people management advice, support and coaching to senior leaders and managers to address current and future business and workforce challenges and operational human resources issues and initiatives. A significant part of this role is managing an employment relations case load.

The role will also lead and contribute to both operational and strategic HR projects, which includes continuous improvement initiatives, and HR policy and process development. The Senior HR Advisor will also play a key role in mentoring both Advisors and Assistant Advisors to build HR and ER capability, knowledge, and experience across the team.

We have a permanent opportunity available in Wellington and are open to candidates who are interested in working full-time or part-time.

Mōhou ake | About you

You’ll be:

  • An experienced HR generalist – employment relations and/or change management will be your speciality or strength.
  • Able to demonstrate an ability to apply sound professional practice, knowledge, strategies and tactics across a range of business needs in the areas of employment relationship matters, health and wellbeing, workforce capability development, performance management and change management.
  • Experienced advising in unionised environments.
  • An effective listener and communicator. You don’t shy away from challenging conversations.
  • Comfortable navigating technology: experience using Success Factors and a CRM will be an advantage.
  • Keen to apply a Te Tiriti o Waitangi lens to your mahi | work, working to deliver a strong emphasis on supporting a crown Māori partnership focus to our learning solutions.
  • Excited about joining a team environment that is collaborative and creative, with the opportunity to contribute to the work programmes of others across the team and Group.
