About the role

We are looking for a Senior Hydrologist and Flood modeller to help us deliver a strong pipeline of work on high profile and challenging projects for Water and Infrastructure (ie. road, rail, power) clients across Australia and New Zealand. Our team contribute to the whole value chain of water resource management, including data collection, environmental approvals, compliance monitoring/reporting, infrastructure design and advisory to Government in the development of policy.

The purpose of this role is to lead hydrology and flood modelling investigations and to collaboratively work with other disciplines on both small and large as well as simple and complex projects. You will have experience in developing models, analysing and interpreting data, and presenting it a way that effectively communicates your evidence and recommendations so that our clients can make decisions. You will have sufficient knowledge of legislation and policies relevant to hydrology and flood modelling, and be equipped to work collaboratively with other disciplines to ensure successful delivery of multidisciplinary infrastructure projects. It is expected that you will have project management experience, and will be able to write proposals for, win and manage smaller projects within the area of your technical expertise, and contribute to more complex projects.

Here’s What You’ll Need:


You will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking and leading a range of hydrology and flood modelling projects.
  • Preparation of risk assessments and method statements, data collation and analysis.
  • Providing specialist support to other technical disciplines within Jacobs, including for infrastructure projects.
  • Liaison with clients, stakeholders and regulators, and with the wider Jacobs teams across the globe.
  • Presenting information to clients and stakeholders at meetings in a concise and effective manner.
  • Authoring complex assessments / reports.
  • Managing projects so that they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the agreed quality.
  • Developing internal and external client contacts.
