Due to continued success, we are seeking a highly motivated Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Cost Management team. This is a great opportunity to work on landmark projects in the vertical space (social infrastructure – health education etc, commercial, residential and retail), horizontal space – transport (roads, aviation and rail) and MEP (cross services and renewables). We are looking for resource options across these sectors to be overall growth. The role can be based Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington or Christchurch and we support flexible working arrangements including part-time hours and working from home.
Our Cost Management business provides proactive cost consulting services to clients in the public and private sector. As a specialist in your field, you will focus on first principles estimating and risk management services. You will also be involved in the mentoring and career development of junior team members, contributing to succession planning and the overall structure of the team.
Day to day tasks include:
- Provision of cost estimates for key projects
- Preparation of quantities from a range of drawings with varying levels of detail
- Cost advice at all stages of the design process and during projects
- Post-contract cost management services, where required
- Preparation and evaluation of Risk Registers
- Delivering excellent service to clients in all aspects of a project life cycle

Minimum Requirements
You will be a natural team player who can demonstrate:
+ Minimum 5 years’ experience as a cost estimator/ quantity surveyor/ cost manager
+ Ability to establish and maintain excellent relationships with internal and external clients
+ Experienced in the preparation of estimates from first principles
+ Demonstrated commercial acumen and ability to mentor junior team members
+ Knowledge and experience of Cost Estimating and Quantity Surveying software such as: Cost X, Expert Estimation, @risk, P6
+ Operates with high standards of integrity
+ Excellent written and oral communication
Preferred Qualifications
+ Member of RICS and/ or NZIQS would be advantageous
