We invite applications for a Speech/Language Therapist to join our Learning Support team at the Ministry of Education for the Wellington region.
The appointee will provide speech and language support across the Hutt Valley, and surrounding suburbs. At times you may be required to work across the Greater Wellington region.

Learning support is a critical part of Te Mahau I Te Tai Runga in the Ministry. We are charged with leading the education sector in ensuring that children and young people with additional learning needs are supported to reach their full potential through education.
We work closely with whānau, families, caregivers, schools and early learning centres in English and Māori medium settings.
The Ministry of Education Wellington Region Learning Support team provides a friendly and supportive working environment.
About this role
- Knowledge of working in a culturally responsive way is required given our commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.
- Working to understand the impact of children and young people’s speech and language difficulties in the context of their home, educational setting, and community.
- Working closely with whānau, families, educators and other specialists to help them to support children and young people with the development of speech, language and communication skills.
- Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
About you
We are seeking a highly skilled & motivated person to join our multi-disciplinary team.
The successful Speech/language therapist candidate will have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Speech Language Therapy or Masters of Speech Language therapy.
- Be eligible for membership to the NZSTA.
- A full New Zealand driver’s licence as travel is essential for the role.
- Able to work effectively across early learning services and schools.
- Be confident in delivering group training to whānau, families and educators.
