Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
This advising position has a particular focus on postgraduate students in Science, which includes students enrolled in the BSc(Hons), MSc and a number of specialised Masters programmes. Further details are available at https://www.canterbury.ac.nz/science/qualifications-and-courses/postgraduate/.
You will provide academic advice to current and prospective postgraduate students in relation to these programmes, while also acting as a contact person for Māori, Pasifika, international, and disabled students enrolled in Science. From time to time, you will also work with undergraduate students. Additionally you will work closely and provide support to the Associate Dean and, in due course, the Academic Services Manager (a new position for which we are currently recruiting).
Mōu | Who You Are
You have experience working with tertiary students, and experience working in a university environment is preferred. You will ideally have a knowledge of University regulations, and the ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures. The workload is diverse so you will need to be able to manage your time well when busy.
We are a friendly and welcoming team so it’s important that you share these qualities. A great sense of humour is always a bonus.
