We are looking for enthusiastic professionals to join us in furthering this work (www.wsesu.org/socjus.html)Goal of position: Understand and help fill current gaps in school-based supports for general education students who are struggling to access classes/school. Working with students one on one and collaborating with other stakeholders such as families, and other support professionals in the building to weave a tighter safety net to identify, support, and build connections with struggling students. Coordinate these supports within & outside the community to improve student attendance and school engagement.

Help cultivate student-led community and culture that is accessible and relevant for all students. Persons applying for this position should be certified as a social worker in Vermont.Proposal of job description and tasks: Participate in regular student support team meetings to review identified students, identify and recommend interventions & referrals, and monitor progress/needs over timeCollect individual student input to identify areas of need for additional in-school supportsSupport restorative justice efforts between staff, students, and larger school community; support implementation of restorative justice practices (e.g. circles) in the classroom if time allows.Collaborate with the Restorative Justice Coordinator on ways to support under engagement students. Maintain connection and collaboration with community support providers; facilitate connections between school and community providers Home/family visits and individual counseling as needed Work one on one with students to help students process through issues that could contribute to non-engagement.

Help students to develop skills to help with issues such as anxiety that prohibit them from accessing their education.
