About the opportunity: 

Our client has over 30 years in the IT industry and is looking to add an experienced Systems Engineer to their tight-knit team in Epsom, Auckland. They are committed to having the best people in the industry work for them while making sure they invest in professional training and development. 

Role description: 

You will be responsible for providing the ongoing technical support of both hardware and software applications at multiple sites for one of New Zealand’s top Managed Service Providers. This role has a strong focus on the Microsoft Windows platform. A big part of the role involves interacting with a wide range of customers on a daily basis. This position is office based and has a requirement to visit client sites regularly so a valid New Zealand driver’s license is a requirement.

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide technical solutions, recommendations and, implement systems while working closely with customers and third-party vendors
  • Liaise with clients as to installs, troubleshooting, and maintaining computer systems, hardware, software, and peripherals – taking them through the steps on Windows and Mac-based systems
  • Act as an escalation point for complex technical issues while mentoring and developing other staff within the team
  • Support internal account managers with project overviews, estimates and timelines in a clear descriptive format to ensure understanding
  • Accurately record and update document requests using our internal database
  • Create and maintain site documentation and build process documentation for other peers to follow
  • Provide advice and testing of new systems and technologies which might be a good fit for our customers.

This role will suit someone with the following background / experience / qualities:

  • Strong communication skills and be able to understand our customers business needs and communicate in a non-technical manner, both written and spoken
  • Proven experience with Active Directory, Hyper-V and Windows Server Deployments
  • Experience in Azure Administration including on-premise to Azure migrations, managing virtual machines, Azure AD, VPNs, Security Gateways and new deployments
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 Platform: SharePoint, Exchange, Teams, OneDrive and Intune
  • Proven experience with Windows endpoint deployments using Microsoft Autopilot and Intune
  • Experience with backup solutions such as Veeam, Datto and Synology
  • Previous experience with RMM products, Ninja RMM an advantage
