We are currently looking for a qualified applicant to fill the following position:
PT – Youth Advisor ($16hr – 19hr) $1500 Sign-on bonus! $750 at the start and $750 at 6 months!
Job Description: The Youth Advisor is responsible for supervising the youth, teaching the youth life skills, overseeing the daily operation of the site, and transporting youth for certain activities.
Essential Functions:
- To provide quality supervision to assigned clients during assigned shifts, evenings, overnights, and weekends. This includes being on-site, engaging clients, planning activities, and supporting client life skills. successfully engage clients in implementing their individual plans and using positive youth development, trauma-informed, and culturally appropriate frameworks.
- Oversee site maintenance/cleanliness in compliance with program, county, state, and federal regulations and private grant requirements, as applicable; responsible for timely submission of follow-up paperwork.
- Address and report any crisis or critical incident as defined by agency and/or county, state, or federal regulations according to the agency’s formalized practice and protocols, including completing preliminary safety plans. Attend both external and internal agency training and workshops; complete and pass all required training hours and annual training as set forth in the funder and licensing regulations.
Key Functions:
- Administer medication to clients in compliance with regulations.
- Provide or facilitate transportation for clients.
- Attend quarterly training related to trauma-informed care and human trafficking.
- Effectively utilize Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children training to identify potential indicators of exploitation and use preventative therapeutic interventions as required.
- Meet with the clients, according to program requirements, to model and practice activities of daily living skills with clients, including but not limited to: academic and career planning, permanent relationships/ mentoring, housing/household maintenance, priority setting, money management, and health and wellness.
- Represent the program and agency in a professional manner and maintain positive community relationships in a proactive manner.
- Participate in weekly scheduled supervision with the direct supervisor and be prepared with an agenda.
Other Duties:
- Understand and adhere to Valley Youth House policies, practices, and procedures.
- Build genuine relationships that support families, ensure safe places, and help youth achieve their desired futures.
- Attend and actively participate in team meetings.
- Timely and accurate completion of personnel materials (ie. timesheets, mileage reimbursement, etc.).
- Complete other related tasks as appropriate or assigned.
- Must be available to work nights and/or weekends.
Qualifications:
- An individual 21 years of age or older, with the ability to identify with and adapt to the goals and philosophies of the independent living program.
- Candidates with lived experience.
- Possess sound judgment and knowledge of adolescent development and behavior.
