The ideal person will deliver a programme that will assist rangatahi to acquire new skills while increasing confidence and motivation, through supporting their active participation and accessing further education, employment and training. They will be passionate about and committed to working with rangatahi and have the following skills/experience:
- Experience in youth work or mentoring with rangatahi.
- Experience in advocating on behalf of rangatahi.
- Experience working with rangatahi from a range of cultures and backgrounds.
- High standard of professionalism and integrity.
- Strong cultural awareness and understanding of Te Ao Maori me ona Tikanga.
- Knowledge of youth justice court processes and the role of Family Group Conferences.
- Experience in assessing and developing individual plans for rangatahi.
- Ability to work with a diverse range of people and services with excellent engagement skills.
- Strict adherence to health and safety standards and procedures.
- Full clean driver’s licence is essential.
- Resilience with the ability to work under pressure.
- Flexibility to work in different place settings to provide mentoring opportunities through sports, the arts etc and build their cultural awareness and skills.
- Youth work or relevant qualification preferred but not essential.
