Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role
Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a fixed-term (37.5 hours a week) Senior Tutor to work closely with staff and students within the School of Information Management, which is situated within the Wellington School of Business and Government (WSBG). This is an opportunity for someone with energy and initiative to add value to academic programmes and the student experience. The suitable candidate will be responsible for providing administrative, tutorial and teaching support for course coordinators, teaching fellows, tutors, and other staff. This includes being the contact person for supporting technology enabled learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting workshops, computer labs and tutorials; and providing teaching assistance through marking and supervision of assessments.
- Providing technical and technological support – problem solving associated with the use of technology in classes, especially computing and blended classes; supporting technology enabled lea
- Providing both tutor and student support through consultation on a regular basis both on campus and online (for student taking courses via distance learning).
- Providing course and programme support particularly through the management of teaching platforms used at Victoria University of Wellington, including maintenance and monitoring of course information and records.
- Assistance with the recruitment, resourcing, mentoring, and development of tutors and teaching assistants.
- Assistance with the maintenance and monitoring of course information and records, and other administrative duties as required.

You will be a customer-focused individual who loves being in action, and providing technology support for course, workshop, lab, and tutorial delivery. You enjoy solving problems across a range of education and administration areas. You can also take the initiative, have an excellent manner with students, and an enthusiasm for learning and teaching, in a tertiary environment.
As a highly organised self-starter and natural relationship builder, you also enjoy working autonomously as well as contributing positively to a high performing team. You have effective time and self-management skills, and able to anticipate and effectively meet deadlines. A growth mind set and the ability to remain calm under pressure are natural qualities.
Key Requirements:
- Graduate in Information Systems, Business Analysis, Information Management, Computer or Data Science or equivalent.
- High degree of computer literacy with skills in problem solving associated with the use of technology.
- Outstanding people and communication skills including the ability to adjust to different audiences.
- Proven ability to work under pressure and within a continually changing environment.
