Job Description
Community Law Wellington and Hutt Valley (CLWHV) is a registered charity providing free legal advice and assistance to those who cannot access other legal services in Wellington & the Hutt Valley. This work also includes the provision of free legal education in our communities, promoting law reform in the interests of our clients, and providing restorative justice services in the Greater Wellington region.This is an exciting opportunity for an Administrative Assistant to join our hard-working Restorative Justice (RJ) team. This role is part-time and permanent and could be based from our Lower Hutt and/or Wellington offices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of the Administrative Assistant- RJ are:

  • Supporting our court coordinators by keeping referral and case information up-to date and maintaining our case support systems.
  • Supporting our RJ facilitators in arranging RJ hui and other logistical supports.
  • Supporting our RJ Manager by assisting in summarising and reporting on RJ data.
  • Occasional cover of our RJ Coordinators in court
  • Other administrative support as required

The successful candidate will have administrative experience, strong people skills and good attention to detail. Ideally, they would have experience working with community organisations or within the justice system. Our constitutional goal of Treaty-based operations means they will also have a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi based partnership. Sensitivity to, and knowledge of, te reo Māori and tikanga Māori is also desirable, though not essential.
