We have a great opportunity for an Advisor to join the Hazardous Industries (Certifications) team in our High Hazards, Energy and Public Safety Group based in Wellington.

About the role

The Hazardous Industries (Certifications) team undertakes registration, approvals and certification activities across a range of specialist areas to manage hazardous chemicals in the workplace. We maintain a variety of registers to provide assurance of compliance with the hazardous substances regulations.

The role provides a great opportunity for an entry level advisor to learn about the hazardous substance’s regulatory framework, which will open up future career opportunities. The successful applicant will be supported by a range of subject matter experts.

As a valuable team member, you will be involved in:

  • Processing applications for the possession of controlled substances.
  • Searching and evaluating data to strengthen regulatory compliance.
  • Engaging with external parties and building effective relationships with industry and other regulatory agencies.

To be successful in the role you will need to have:

  • Sound judgement and decision- making skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to develop trust and demonstrate high level customer service skills
  • High level of computer literacy & experience of electronic data information systems
  • Well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Energy and a can-do, positive attitude.
  • Some understanding of the health and safety legislation and regulations.
